Chairman's Welcome

On behalf of the Committee, Staff, Coordinators, and all Volunteers, I would like to welcome you to the 61st annual Riverland Field Days. We are sure you will have a fantastic time.

As we roll into September each year, our site becomes a hive of activity, as our volunteers and contractors prepare for our major annual event - The Riverland Field Days.

During the past year, The Riverland  Events Centre has undergone a massive transformation, with the addition of our brand new Function Pavilion. This project has been made possible through a generous grant from the Federal Government  (through the Building Better Regions Fund), along with enormous volunteer effort, and of course the excellent  craftsmanship  of the contractors  we engaged. This pavilion compliments our existing facilities, making this site a truly versatile events centre. We are all very proud of what we have achieved. Be sure to check out our new function pavilion near the middle of the site, which will host the cooking demonstrations, along with static displays from local artists, and several exhibitors around the verandah.

A popular attraction returning this year is the Super Fish Tank, where we can get a unique insight into lure fishing. There will be an extensive program of activities at the Rabobank stage throughout both days. Other attractions include the blacksmith demonstrations, vintage machinery, pony rides, Scouts climbing wall, and helicopter rides.

There will be a wide range of food choices available, with catering zones spread throughout  the site.   There is also the food and wine village where your food can be  enjoyed with wines or beverages from various local producers.

Of course, the Riverland Field Days are an opportunity for  our many exhibitors to promote their products and services. These businesses go to a lot of effort to organise their interactive sites, and have staff on hand to demonstrate and explain everything to you.  Take time to absorb all the new information available. Even if you don't make a purchase on the day; if you decide to purchase products or services sometime into the future, remember the value of having been able to see and experience it at the Riverland Field Days.

We hope you have a fantastic time. If there is anything you need, our staff and volunteers will be happy to assist.

Welcome by Tim Whetstone, Member for Chaffey

Welcome to the 61st Riverland Field Days, a premier event that attracts thousands of people from all over our state and beyond.

It is estimated that over 15,000 people will flock to the Riverland for the event to see demonstrations, displays and new technology offered by more than 450 exhibitors. This important event injects more than $2 million into the Riverland economy each year and the economic benefits continue well beyond in sales enquiries and business.

The  Field  Days  offer  a  unique occasion to  see  the latest  primary production innovation and  development, as industries seek greater productivity in production, processing and marketing. For many years the Field Days have been a forum for farmers to come together, collaborate and discuss the most effective on-farm practices.

Over the past 61 years the Riverland Field Days has continued to grow as a superior supplier for horticultural and agricultural tools, machinery, services and goods. From its beginning in 1958 as the Riverland Implement & Gadget Field Day, this lucrative event has developed to feature hundreds of exhibits, regional gourmet food and beverages, celebrity chef cooking displays, children’s activities and great entertainment for the whole family.

Whether you are a first-time visitor, a regular or exhibitor at  the  Field  Days,  I  hope you enjoy the hospitality at this great Riverland event and enjoy all the region has to offer over the next two days.

The   Riverland is home to many river towns that I encourage all visitors to explore. Whilst visiting the region discover the natural beauty of the River Murray and  sample the  fine  food, wine and tourism experiences on offer.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the Riverland Field Days Committee. Without the volunteers who every year donate their time and put in an enormous effort, the Riverland Field Days would never come to fruition.
